Materials Engineering
Our materials team includes materials scientists, engineers and chemists with commercial and research expertise in a wide range of industry sectors, in large and small companies and including construction, transportation, healthcare, sports, electronics and defence. We have strong links to UK and overseas materials expertise in research organisations and industry. We specialise in forward looking intelligence studies to assess the options for new materials and processes. Quotec has been working continuously in materials technology for industry, governments and research based organisations since 1984.
The Welsh Development Agency, now Welsh Assembly Government, wanted to understand the requirements and viability options for establishing a centre providing incubator and R&D facilities for the materials and manufacturing sectors. Quotec conducted an in-depth study of industrial needs and research challenges in parallel with an audit of current facilities and an analysis of opportunities for establishing collaborative R&D projects. The business plan for the centre focused upon creating a world-class R&D base for existing companies and space for new technology businesses.
Quotec assisted the West Midlands Innovation and Technology Council with the development of its Advanced Materials Strategy. In close collaboration with Advantage West Midlands, Quotec looked at existing strategies and publications, supplemented by discussions with key industry representatives and academics to identify options for investment in the areas of advanced materials and related manufacturing. Quotec has subsequently advised AWM on advanced materials investments at Warwick and Birmingham Universities.
